From May 1st, Iberia will begin operating its summer schedule in Portugal. Spain’s leading airline will increase its capacity in the bordering country by 9% compared to 2019.
Iberia regularly operates to Lisbon (LIS) and Porto (OPO) from its Madrid-Barajas (MAD) hub. In the summer season, it will inaugurate three new routes. Flights to Funchal-Madeira (FNC) will be inaugurated in May and from June it will offer connections to Faro (FAO) and Ponta Delgada (PDL).
The company plans to offer 67 weekly frequencies in each direction between Madrid and Portugal. In August, the busiest month of the summer, it will operate 76 weekly connections; this represents an increase of 15% compared to the same month in 2019.
Iberia’s schedule in Portugal during the summer of 2022
- Madrid (MAD) – Funchal (FNC): three weekly frequencies (Monday, Friday and Sunday) from May 1st. Connections will be increased to five per week during July and will be daily in August. Operated by Iberia Regional-Air Nostrum Bombardier CRJ1000 aircraft with a capacity of 100 passengers. It will end in October.
- Madrid (MAD) – Faro (FAO): three weekly frequencies (Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) from June 2nd. Connections will be increased to five per week in July and will be daily in August. Operated by Iberia Regional-Air Nostrum Bombardier CRJ1000 aircraft with a capacity of 100 passengers.
- Madrid (MAD) – Ponta Delgada (PDL): two weekly frequencies (Tuesday and Saturday) between June and September. The operations will be carried out by Airbus A320 aircraft with capacity for 173 passengers.
Iberia will also increase its offer to Lisbon and Porto, two cities that it serves regularly throughout the year. It will offer 36 weekly connections to and from the Portuguese capital and 28 weekly frequencies, in both directions, in Portugal’s second largest city.
