ITA Airways continues to expand its intercontinental network for the 2022 summer season, the new Italian flag carrier from April 2 will start its first intercontinental operation at Malpensa Airport (MXP).
The new long-haul service between Milan (MXP) and New York (JFK) will operate five times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday), the schedule is as follows:
- Milan Malpensa – New York Flight AZ604 MXP 13:40 – JFK 17:00
- New York – Milan Malpensa Flight AZ605 JFK 20:55 – MXP 11:05+1
The flights will be operated by Airbus A330-200 aircraft with 256 seats in three classes (20 Business Class/17 Premium Economy/219 Economy).
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Ente Nazionale Per L’Aviazione Civile (ENAC) in 2019 the route between Milan Malpensa (MXP) and New York (JFK) mobilized 875,232 passengers, being the main intercontinental service in Italy.
Increased connectivity with the United States
From Rome – Fiumicino (FCO) the company has increased its route from New York (JFK) to two daily flights and in March launched two new destinations to Boston (BOS) and Miami (MIA). ITA plans to offer up to 42 weekly flights between Italy and the U.S. by August 2022 with an offer of 22,792 seats per week according to data compiled by Aviacionline via Cirium.
Summer season schedule
The Italian flag carrier plans to offer 64 new destinations of which 23 are domestic, 34 international and 7 intercontinental. With the arrival of the new state-of-the-art Airbus A330 and A350, ITA will offer new long-haul routes to Los Angeles (LAX), Sao Paulo (GRU), Buenos Aires (EZE) and Tokyo Haneda (HND).
