Low-cost SKY Airline celebrated the third anniversary of the inauguration of its operations in Peru. Since it began flying in the country in April 2019, the company has carried 3.5 million passengers on more than 23,000 flights.
Apart from Chile, its country of origin, Peru is the second national market where it has a presence. In January this year, the Peruvian subsidiary reached a market share of 20% of all domestic flights. In this way, it became the second largest operator in the country, behind LATAM Airlines Perú.
«These results are further proof of the confidence of our passengers, who have helped us to consolidate our position as the low-cost carrier with the most passengers transported in the country», said José Raúl Vargas, Managing Director of SKY in Peru. «With these excellent results, we are very motivated to continue our commitment to the country and reaffirm our commitment to open more destinations and support our international growth strategy with Lima as a very important pillar», he added.
Currently, SKY operates a network of eleven domestic destinations from its base at Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM). The main ones are Cusco (CUZ), Arequipa (AQP) and Piura (PIU), which have accounted for 57.82% of the total passengers transported so far.
The other destinations in its domestic network are Ayacucho (AYP), Iquitos (IQT), Juliaca (JUL), Pucalipa (PCL), Puerto Maldonado (PEM), Tarapoto (TPP), Trujillo (TRU) and Tumbes (TBP).
