TAP Air Portugal resumed flights to Caracas

TAP Air Portugal, resumed on April 21 regular operations between Lisbon (LIS) and Caracas (CCS) after more than two years. Flight TP173 took off from Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) at 12:26 and landed at Maiquetía Airport (CCS) at 15:54, with 219 passengers on board.

The airline’s last scheduled flight to Venezuela was on March 28, 2020, operated on EuroAtlantic Airways’ 267-seat Boeing 767-300ER. The Portuguese airline also performed multiple cargo operations from Lisbon (LIS) and Porto (OPO) to Venezuela.

TAP Air Portugal will conduct two more passenger operations on May 5 and 16, and from June 21, it will return to its twice-a-week schedule (Tuesday and Saturday).

The flights will be operated by its Airbus A330-900neo fleet configured with 297 seats in three classes: 34 Business Class, 96 Economy Plus and 168 in Economy.

On March 11, 2022, the Portuguese flag carrier announced its return to Venezuela, following the announcement made by the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) after adding Portugal to join the list of countries authorized for international flights.

With the arrival of TAP Air Portugal, Maiquetía Airport (CCS) will be connected to three European destinations, currently offering routes from Madrid (MAD) operated by Air Europa, Plus Ultra and Conviasa (through Plus Ultra) and from Moscow – Vnukovo (VKO) operated by Conviasa.

Now the Portuguese flag carrier will have non-stop connections to four countries through thirteen destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean during the 2022 summer boreal season from its hub in Lisbon (LIS).
