On May 26, Eurowings Discover began operations between Frankfurt (FRA) and Porto Santo (PXO), the first non-stop link between PXO and Germany. Flight 4Y 704 took off from Main International Airport at 12:05 and landed on Portuguese territory at 14:41 local time.
Flight Itinerary
- Frankfurt – Porto Santo Flight 4Y 704 FRA 11:35 – PXO 14:40 Thursday.
- Porto Santo – Frankfurt Flight 4Y 705 PXO 15:30 – FRA 20:35 Thursday.
The flights will be operated in Airbus A320ceo aircraft with a capacity of 180 seats in single configuration. This service will be seasonal during the boreal summer season and will end on October 27, 2022.
This unprecedented route was the work of Aeroportos de Portugal, SA (ANA), VINCI Airports and Lufthansa Group, with the aim of developing new services at Porto Santo Airport (PXO) in coordination with the Regional Government of Madeira, the Madeira Promotion Association and Turismo de Portugal.
This new air operation offers German tourists more travel options to visit Madeira. This regular flight contributes to the recovery and reinforcement of this market, the last non-stop connections between Porto Santo (PXO) and Germany were in 2020.
Eurowings Discover’s growth in the main holiday markets of Madeira and the Canary Islands.
The new Lufthansa Group subsidiary, in addition to serving leisure markets on an intercontinental level, will also handle several short-haul holiday routes from Frankfurt (FRA) for this summer season, the airline will have a 5,400-seat offering between Germany to Madeira and the Canary Islands on six destinations, in the following schedule:
- Lanzarote (ACE) one weekly flight.
- Funchal (FNC) twice a week.
- Fuerteventura (FUE) three times a week.
- Gran Canaria (LPA) three times a week.
- Porto Santo (PXO) one flight a week.
- Tenerife – South (TFS) four times a week.
