Conviasa takes delivery of a second Airbus A340-600 from Mahan Air and programs regular flights to Iran

Conviasa received a second Airbus A340-600 (ex – Mahan Air) registered with the registration number YV 3535 and christened “General en Jefe Rafael Urdaneta”. The aircraft completed its inaugural flight from Iran to the International Airport G/J Santiago Mariño (PMV).

In this flight, twenty-three tour operators and influencers from the Islamic Republic of Iran were received, who complied with all the biosecurity protocols in Porlamar (PMV). The personnel of Bolivariana de Aeropuertos (BAER) oversaw the airport processes in an efficient and safe manner for the seventy passengers who travelled on the Venezuelan flag carrier.

As part of the celebration at the Santiago Mariño Airport, there were several cultural events that included typical music, traditional dances, and exhibitions of handicrafts from the eastern region of Venezuela.

Conviasa plans to operate regularly to Iran on June 18, 2022, with a flight every 15 days. this will be the company’s only destination in the Middle East.

Flight Itinerary

  • Caracas – Tehran Flight VCV 3750 CCS 16:00 – IKA 14:00 Saturday.
  • Tehran – Caracas Flight VCV 3751 IKA 05:30 – CCS 10:30 Tuesday.

The flights are scheduled to be operated in Airbus A340-300 aircraft with a capacity of 255 seats in three classes.

Venezuela and Iran have recently boosted their relations and the objective of this new air service is to expand tourism and trade between the two countries. The Islamic nation is currently among the destinations authorized by the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) for regular passenger and cargo flights in Venezuelan territory.

Conviasa’s wide-body aircraft fleet

The Venezuelan flag carrier’s fleet of long-haul aircraft will be comprised of four Airbus A340 family aircraft:

  • Airbus A340-200 Registration: YV1004 “Simón Bolívar El Libertador”.
  • Airbus A340-300 Registration: YV3507 “Antonio José de Sucre Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho”.
  • Airbus A340-600 Registration: YV3533 “Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda”.
  • Airbus A340-600 Registration: YV3535 “General en Jefe Rafael Urdaneta”.

The company expects to receive an Airbus A340-500 with VIP configuration for presidential use, this aircraft will come from Qatar Amiri Flight.
