TAAG Angola Airlines inaugurated flights between Luanda and Madrid

TAAG Angola Airlines inaugurated a new route to Europe after more than a decade, landing in Madrid (MAD), Spain, with flights from Luanda (LAD). The new route includes the start of a codeshare agreement with Iberia, which allows both airlines to access the network of destinations they have through their bases.

According to the company, the occupancy factor of the flights marketed between the two capitals reaches 65%.

Initially, TAAG will maintain two weekly frequencies in both directions. The flights will be operated on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, with a configuration of 12 seats in first class, 56 seats in business class and 225 in economy.

The company stated that the cargo capacity of the aircraft will benefit the transportation of the most in-demand goods between both markets. In this sense, they highlight the contribution to the textile and food industries (mainly tropical fruits and fish).

Spain becomes the second European country served by TAAG. The airline’s international network consists of:

  • Lisbon (LIS), Portugal; twelve weekly flights on Airbus A330s, operated by Hifly, and Boeing 777-300ERs.
  • São Paulo-Guarulhos (GRU), Brazil; three weekly flights on Boeing 777-300ER.
  • Johannesburg (JNB), South Africa; seven weekly flights on Boeing 737-700 and Boeing 777-300ER.
  • Cape Town (CPT), South Africa; five weekly flights on Boeing 737-700.
  • Kinshasa (FIH), Dem. Rep. Congo; two weekly flights on DHC 8-400.
  • Lagos (LOS), Nigeria; two weekly flights on Boeing 737-700.
  • Maputo (MPM), Mozambique; three weekly flights in Boeing 737-700.
  • Sao Tome (TMS), Sao Tome and Principe; two weekly flights on Boeing 737-700.
  • Windhoek (WDH), Namibia; four weekly flights on DHC 8-400.
