First look at the Portuguese Air Force KC-390 Millennium

Embraer released a video, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Portuguese Air Force (FAP), in which it showed for the first time, the first Portuguese KC-390.

Portugal is the first export customer for the KC-390 Millennium (and first in Europe), of which it ordered 5 examples in 2019, for $930 million. The purchase includes a flight simulator and logistics support for a 12-year extension.

The new KC-390s will replace the aging fleet of C-130H Hercules of the 501st “Bison” Squadron. The delivery of the last one should take place during 2027.

KC-390 Millennium FAP

Since September 14, 2021, the future crews and ground personnel of the FAP’s KC-390s have been receiving training in Anapolis, home of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) Wing No. 2. As reported by the FAB, the preparation course lasts 3 months.
