LATAM Group plans significant growth in the air cargo market

LATAM Cargo

LATAM Group unveiled a major plan to grow the air cargo market between the Americas and Europe. The plan will be implemented during the second half of 2022, adding more frequencies, a wider transatlantic network between the Old Continent and strategic cities in the United States, as well as greater connectivity with Central and South America through Miami and New York.

LATAM Group’s cargo operators will double their capacity between the Americas and Europe, increasing weekly frequencies by 85%, from 7 to 13, a 160% increase over pre-pandemic levels.

In addition, new routes will be opened between the Americas and Europe, which will be served by freighter aircraft operated by LATAM Cargo Colombia.

Flight Itinerary

  • Amsterdam (AMS) – New York (JFK) – Bogota (BOG)
  • Amsterdam (AMS) – Miami (MIA) – Bogota (BOG)
  • Amsterdam (AMS) – New York (JFK) – Viracopos (VCP) – Bogota (BOG)

In addition, LATAM reaffirms its confirmation of connecting Europe and Brazil with Miami as a connecting point by increasing its service to Sao Paulo, with a total of nine weekly flights operated by LATAM Cargo Colombia.

«The growth of our cargo network, coupled with improvements to our systems through Croamis and new distribution channels that make capacity available, reflect the commitment of LATAM and its cargo subsidiaries to offer more and better alternatives to our customers and provide the solution of excellence that our customers require to connect the world with South America,» said Andres Bianchi, CEO of LATAM Cargo.

The recent offering is the result of the flexibility gained through the expansion of LATAM’s cargo subsidiaries, as well as the versatility of the Boeing B767F to handle a wide variety of routes and optimize connectivity at the Miami transit hub (MIA). Currently, LATAM Group’s cargo operators operate 14 cargo aircraft and this number is expected to increase to 16 by the end of the year.

By 2023, the company expects to have a fleet of 21 Boeing 767Fs with an average fleet age of 14 years and continue to increase its capacity in the cargo market.
