Linked to the country’s health ministry, Anvisa (Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária, Health Surveillance National Agency) is the body that has required the use of masks onboard all flights in Brazil since 2020.

Lauro Jardim says «barring a last-minute unforeseen event», the requirement will be relaxed as Anvisa’s board of directors will gather tomorrow. The journalist says the topic is on the meeting’s agenda «and the approval [of the new directive] is deemed easy».

Instead of a mandate, says Jardim, a reccomendation for masks onboard the flights will take place, effective this week.
