Finnair will launch scheduled flights to Doha from Helsinki, Stockholm, and Copenhagen before the end of the year, as part of a long-term cooperation agreement signed with Qatar Airways, which includes the joint marketing of both passenger and cargo capacity under code-sharing.
Both airlines will offer connections via their respective hubs to almost 100 destinations in Australasia, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa in the case of Qatar Airways, and in Europe in the case of Finnair.
The exact start date of the services (all three with daily flights) was not specified, but they will start between November and December 2022 and will be operated on Airbus A330 aircraft with Finnair’s new long-haul cabins, which include Air Lounges business seats, a brand-new premium economy and refreshed economy seating.
«As a fellow Oneworld member, we enjoy a close relationship with Finnair and these new services to Hamad International Airport are an example of Qatar Airways working with partners for the benefit of our joint customers. This strategic partnership demonstrates our commitment to the Nordic markets and strengthens our position as the leading Middle East carrier in this important region. This partnership will be the foundation for the future expansion here,» said Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, who also noted that Doha will soon be «the Oneworld hub bringing more airline partners together than ever before».
Finnair CEO Topi Manner said, «We are delighted to expand our collaboration with our Oneworld partner Qatar Airways, offering new connections between Doha and the three Nordic capitals».
«The role of Doha as an international hub is growing, and Qatar Airways has extensive connections from Doha onwards to for example Australasia, the Middle East and Africa», he concluded.
Finnair’s daily services from Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki will complement Qatar Airways’ existing operations with 10, 11 and four flights a week from Doha, respectively.
