Aeromexico expects AICM flight restriction to be extended

Aeromexico’s CEO indicated that he anticipates that the reforms being carried out at Mexico City International Airport (AICM) will be extended in their execution time, which will prolong the restrictions established at the terminal for the operation of flights.

«It seems quite unlikely that the repairs will be completed in six months,» said Andres Conesa, the airline’s CEO, at a conference quoted by Reuters. «It’s a huge project and the repairs are important, because investments in the airport are long overdue. If restrictions have to be extended, we will comply,» he added.

In August, the terminal and operators had agreed to a 15% reduction in operations to make room for the work and to strengthen the controversial Felipe Angeles Airport (AIFA), which recently opened and has yet to gain massive acceptance from travelers and airlines.
