Aeromexico reactivated flights between Mexico City and Morelia

On Monday 19 Aeromexico increased air connectivity to the State of Michoacan reactivating its non-stop service between Mexico City (MEX) and Morelia (MLM) with two daily flights. The company’s last operation on this route on March 29, 2020, was suspended because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Flight AM 2444 was operated in an Embraer 190 registered with the registration XV-ALW belonging to the regional subsidiary of the airline Aeromexico Connect. The aircraft took off from Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX) at 09:54 local time and landed at General Francisco Mujica Airport (MLM) at 10:30. The flight lasted 36 minutes.

 

Aeroméxico MoreliaAccording to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) 85,918 passengers and 4,019 kilograms of cargo were mobilized in 1,455 air operations in 2019 between Mexico City (MEX) and Morelia (MLM). This was the second busiest domestic route from General Francisco Mujica Airport, currently Aeromexico is the only operator in this segment.

  • Flight AM 2447 MLM 16:11 – MEX 17:15 daily flights.

Both services will be operated in Embraer 190 aircraft with a capacity of 99 seats in two classes (11 Clase Premier/88 Clase Turista) and promotional fares are available starting at MXN 1,581 one way.

With the reintroduction of this route Morelia’s (MLM) domestic network increases to five destinations available year-round: Mexicali (MXL), Monterrey (MTY), Tijuana (TIJ), Cancun (CUN) and now Mexico City (MEX). Aeromexico also becomes the third Mexican operator in the Michoacan capital and will offer more than 12,000 seats per month on its nonstop service between MEX-MLM.

According to data compiled by Aviacionline through Grupo Aeroportuario Pacifico (GAP) statistics for the period January – August 2022 the General Francisco Mujica Airport (MLM) has mobilized 750,200 passengers, an increase of 27% over the same period in 2019, fully surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
