No flight disruptions, damages after earthquake hits Mexico

Just minutes after a major earthquake drill was conducted near La Mira, in the state of Michoacan, an actual seismic event hit the region causing panic to Mexican citizens but there were no significant damages or injuries reported.

The event occurred at 13:05 local time near Aquila, 63 kilometers south of Coalcoman, also in Michoacan state. The earthquake occurred 51 kilometers apart from the drill-designated epicenter, near Lazaro Cárdenas and almost five hundred kilometers afar from the country capital.

Preliminary reports indicate that flight operations were suspended for about 10 minutes at Mexico City International Airport and that there were no damages or injuries within personnel or passengers, besides some medical assistance provided due to nervous breakdowns. After a thorough revision of services and infrastructure status, all flight operations were resumed.

Francisco Mujica International Airport, serving Morelia and considered the largest terminal in Michoacan state, has not reported disruptions as well.

This is a developing story.
