After three months of resuming services between Vancouver (YVR) and Brisbane (BNE), Air Canada as of June 1, 2023 increases this service from four times per week to daily flights. This represents a 16.9% increase in capacity over 2019 levels, completely surpassing the pre-pandemic offering.
«This means Air Canada’s capacity at Brisbane is higher than it was before Covid. This is a great sign of recovery and firmly positions Queensland as a destination of choice for the North American market in time for its summer period,» according to Gert-Jan de Graaff, chief executive officer of Brisbane Airport Corporation.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Cities and Regional Development 143,750 passengers and 2,147.2 tonnes of cargo were moved in the June 2018-2019 period between Vancouver (YVR) and Brisbane (BNE).
This expansion is thanks to the $200 million Attracting Aviation Investment Fund, which is an airport and Queensland government incentive program to attract more international travelers.
