As part of the ALTA AGM & Airline Forum 2022, taking place in Buenos Aires, software company SITA announced the signing of an agreement with Azul Linhas Aéreas for the latter to implement the eWAS Dispatch real-time tracking and weather data solution, which will enable it to plan its operations with information from multiple sources in real time.
This solution will save Azul 153 tons of fuel and about 500 tons of CO2 emissions per year, said Carlos Vianna, director of SITA Brazil. «As a technology industry that works for the transportation industry, we will continue to support it, and we will help it to be sustainable,» he added.
eWAS Dispatch automatically and continuously checks multiple flight and external parameters and issues an alert if there are any anomalies. In this way, dispatchers do not have to constantly monitor flights. Instead, they can manage exceptions, reducing workload and the potential for human error.
The solution also features an early warning system that provides alerts about potential weather problems. It is also compliant with the Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS), the industry standard for global flight tracking to support onboard safety.
Diogo Youssef, Engineering and Flight Dispatch Manager, Azul, said, «We operate in a region affected by extreme weather conditions. We selected SITA eWAS Dispatch because it provides superior aviation weather data and state-of-the-art flight tracking systems to help build our resilience to weather events, while improving operational efficiency and reducing emissions.»
