Avianca will resume operations of Aviateca for domestic and international flights under the “Avianca” commercial brand by the end of this year, subject to governmental approval.
“Guatemala is an important market for Avianca in which we see great potential to develop our business model with a local operator. So far this year more than 350,000 passengers have flown with us on more than 3,500 flights to nearly 60 destinations throughout the continent. Today we repay that trust with a new domestic and international operation with which we will be increasing more than 2,500 seats per week on 14 flights a week,” said Frederico Pedreira, Avianca’s Chief Operations Officer.
The airline will offer three new routes: San Salvador (SAL), Flores (FRS) and Tegucigalpa – Palmerola (XPL) and will also add another international service to San Pedro Sula (SAP) operated by Avianca El Salvador, for an offer of more than 1,000 seats per week.
“Guatemala, San Pedro Sula and San Salvador are important cities for trade and tourism in the Central American region, and as Avianca, we want to give our customers more and better connectivity options between these cities and, above all, to give Guatemalans a direct option to connect with San Pedro Sula, one of the most relevant industrial cities in Central America” said Rolando Damas, Avianca’s Sales Director for North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

These new services are subject to governmental approval. All these routes will be operated in Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 180 passengers, tickets are already available for sale from the company’s website.

The route will be operated in Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 150 seats in two classes (12 Business Class/138 Economy).
