Through a press release, the Colombian Civil Aeronautics informed the current status of the plan to reactivate flights between Colombia and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, since the statements of certain officials and the information held by the airlines conflicted in more than one case.
The document issued by Aerocivil indicates that «the Government of Colombia, through the Civil Aeronautics, is making progress in the technical and administrative coordination with the Venezuelan aeronautical authorities to facilitate the reactivation of passenger air operations between the two countries», and then details the status of the permits for each airline:
WINGO: It has authorization from the Aerocivil and has accredited compliance with requirements before the Venezuelan authority regarding the Bogotá-Caracas-Bogotá route, with 7 weekly flights. It is ready to commercialize its flights once the Venezuelan National Institute of Civil Aeronautics authorizes it.
Regarding the Medellín-Caracas-Medellín route, with 7 weekly flights, the approval of the itinerary by the Venezuelan Authority is pending.
Regarding the Bogotá-Valencia-Bogotá route, with 7 weekly flights, requirements have been accredited and the operation authorization is in process.
LATAM: It has been approved by the Civil Aeronautics of Colombia and acceptance of designation by the INAC of Venezuela, as from July 22, 2022 for the route Bogotá-Caracas-Bogotá, with 7 weekly flights.
AVIANCA: The Aerocivil gave the go-ahead for its operation. The airline has been accrediting requirements before the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Venezuela to obtain permission for the Bogotá-Caracas-Bogotá route, with 7 weekly flights.
LASER: Received approval from the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Venezuela to cover the routes Maiquetía-Bogotá-Maiquetía and Maracaibo-Bogotá-Maracaibo, with 7 weekly flights for each route. Colombia’s Civil Aeronautics has accepted the approval and has informed the company of the status of the operating permit and the steps to be taken.
TURPIAL: It has been authorized by Colombia’s Civil Aeronautics to operate charter flights and is awaiting authorization from the Venezuelan government.
AVIOR: The foreign operator’s certificate has been recognized and the Colombian Aeronautical Authority is in the process of consulting on administrative matters.
The information provided by Aerocivil confirms the information provided yesterday by Aviacionline, adding LATAM to the list of authorized operators. At the time of writing this note, the operators had not commented on the statement of the aeronautical authority.
