Turkish Airlines MRO enters Airbus A330 cargo conversion business

Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW), a passenger-to-freighter conversion company in which Airbus is a partner, and Turkish Technic, an MRO company certified worldwide as a J&G Part 145 and Part 21 organization and part of the Turkish national airline, have announced a new collaboration on A330P2F conversions.

Through this collaboration, Turkish Technic will become the first MRO company to provide conversion solutions for EFW’s A330P2F program. The first A330P2F conversion for EFW is scheduled to take place at Turkish Technic’s Istanbul facility in the third quarter of 2023.

«We have a growing P2F order book that reflects the strong market demand for Airbus freighter conversions, with the A330P2F program increasingly seen as the next-generation platform of choice in the medium and widebody category,» said Jordi Boto, CEO of EFW.

«Through our collaboration with Turkish Technic, which has deep expertise in Airbus aircraft maintenance, we will ensure that our customers’ commitments are solidly met,» he added.

As reported by our media partner Aeroin, EFW’s A330P2F program is being developed in collaboration with ST Engineering and Airbus, with EFW holding the Supplemental Type Certificate and leading the overall program, marketing and sales efforts.

The A330P2F program has two variants. The A330-200P2F can carry a gross payload of up to 61 tonnes for over 7,700km, while the A330-300P2F can carry a gross payload of up to 63 tonnes and a container volume of up to ~18,581ft3 (~526m3).

To meet the growing demand for freighter conversions, ST Engineering and EFW have established new conversion centers in China and the United States, including A330P2F, A320P2F and A321P2F.
