Last Saturday (22), Viva Aerobus inaugurated its non-stop operations between Guadalajara (GDL) and Bogota (BOG) with two weekly flights. This new connection becomes the 46th international destination of El Dorado International Airport (BOG) and the first air connection between Jalisco and South America.
The flight VB 554 was operated with an Airbus A320neo registered with registration number XA-VII, which took off from Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla Airport (GDL) at 18:18 local time and landed at El Dorado Airport (BOG) at 20:46. A total operation time of four hours and 28 minutes.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), Colombia is the main Mexican market in South America. Between January and August of this year, 1,324,585 passengers were mobilized with an occupancy factor of 76.2% in 9,785 flights. Currently, six airline operators offer services between the two countries and Viva Aerobus has a 9.2% share of the market.
Flight Itinerary
- Guadalajara – Bogota Flight VB 554 GDL 18:05 – BOG 23:10 Wednesday and Saturday.
- Bogota – Guadalajara Flight VB 555 BOG 01:10 – GDL 05:30 Thursday and Sunday.
The route will be operated on Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 186 seats in single configuration and promotional fares are available from USD 89 one way.
According to data compiled by Cirium, Viva Aerobus will offer 5,952 weekly seats between Mexico and Colombia. In addition to its new route between Guadalajara (GDL) and the Colombian capital, the airline offers daily flights from Mexico City (MEX) and Cancun (CUN) to Bogota (BOG).
Viva Aerobus is increasing its international offer in the state of Jalisco for the 2022/2023 winter season by providing non-stop service to Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), Houston – International (IAH) and Bogota (BOG), in addition to seventeen domestic destinations.
According to data compiled by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) 2,984,500 international passengers were mobilized between January – August 2022 at Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport (GDL), a 99.2% recovery compared to 2019 levels. Guadalajara (GDL) is connected to 29 destinations in the United States, Spain, Panama, and Colombia.
