Effective March 25, 2023, Japan Airlines will increase its operations to London – Heathrow (LHR) and San Francisco (SFO). As travel demand grows, the Japanese airline continues to build its intercontinental network.
During March next year, Japan Airlines will be offering 53 international routes on 3,343 air operations, a 42% reduction from its pre-pandemic schedule.
Full capacity recovery to London
With the start of the 2023 summer season, Japan Airlines regains its pre-COVID-19 capacity on its services to London – Heathrow (LHR), the carrier will once again offer two daily flights with 6,020 seats per week on offer.

Tokyo/Haneda (HND) – London/Heathrow (LHR)
- Flight JL 41 HND 01:05 – LHR 06:25 daily flights on Boeing 787-8.
- Flight JL 43 HND 09:35 – LHR 15:00 daily flights in Boeing 777-300ER.
London/Heathrow – Tokyo/Haneda (HND)
- Flight JL 42 LHR 09:55 – HND 09:00+1 daily flights on Boeing 787-8.
- Flight JL 44 LHR 17:45 – HND 16:50+1 daily flights on Boeing 777-300ER.
According to data compiled by Aviacionline through the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) 723,406 passengers were mobilized in 2019 between Tokyo and London. The British capital is Tokyo’s second largest European market, behind only Paris.
Doubling San Francisco market
By the end of March next year, Japan Airlines will increase from four flights a week to operating daily between Tokyo/Haneda (HND) and San Francisco (SFO), complementing with its daily operations from Tokyo/Narita (NRT).
The company will double its capacity in this segment by offering 6,020 weekly seats, this represents a 76.2% increase from 2019 levels. Additionally, its low-cost subsidiary ZIPAIR Tokyo will offer nonstop service between Narita (NRT) and San Jose (SJC), increasing the carrier’s presence in the San Francisco Bay Area.

- San Francisco – Tokyo/Haneda Flight JL 1 SFO 14:10 – HND 18:45+1 daily flights on Boeing 777-300ER.
JL 58/57 services between Tokyo/Narita (NRT) and San Francisco (SFO) will continue to operate daily on Boeing 787-8s.
