Safran to provide services for the engine nacelles of Avianca’s A320neo fleet
Avianca has signed a new agreement to receive maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services from French-based multinational aerospace and defence solutions provider Safran.
The contract will last four years, the two companies announced today. Under the terms of the document, Safran will perform maintenance work on the nacelles of the CFM International LEAP-1A engines that power Avianca’s Airbus A320neo aircraft.
The airline currently has a total of 17 operational aircraft using this powerplant. However, it expects to continue to add more airplanes of this type in the near future, so such an agreement will lead to greater efficiency in terms of maintenance and it will also reduce the possibility of deprogramming aircraft for technical reasons.
Avianca will have access to a shared inventory of nacelles offered by Safran Nacelles, the French company’s division for integrating and equipping engines with these streamlined bodies, in Indianapolis, United States.
«We know that punctuality is one of the most relevant attributes for our customers, and our priority at Avianca is to deliver on-time departures», said Albert Perez, the airline’s Vice President of Maintenance. «In that sense, this agreement not only ensures the availability of our assets, but also enhances our ability to react through Safran Nacelles’ strategic stocking locations», he explained.
