Airstream International Group, a company specialising in aircraft leasing and resale operations, announced on Monday that it has completed the sale of an Embraer 170-100LR that operated for the Colombian state-owned airline SATENA (Servicio Aéreo a Territorios Nacionales).
The aircraft, with manufacturer’s serial number (MSN) 151, was delivered to SATENA directly from the factory in December 2006 and was registered as HK-4528. It was part of their fleet until 2020, when it was decommissioned. It was configured to carry up to 76 passengers in a single class of service.
Fleet reconfiguration
In October 2020, the airline announced that it would stop using the Embraer 170s and replace them permanently with ATR 72 aircraft, better suited to its operating conditions. Since then, the aircraft remained in storage at Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG).
In March this year, Airstream reported that it had received the exclusive mandate to sell it on behalf of the airline. The company said at the time that it would help find a buyer from among its international customers, which include airlines, government organisations, lessors, investors and financial institutions, as well as independent organisations. Eventually, Beautech Power Systems, a company based in Dallas, Texas, bought the aircraft.
During its last two years as part of the SATENA fleet, the Embraer 170 operated from Bogotá (BOG) to Arauca (AUC), Corozal (CZU), Ipiales (IPI), Medellín (EOH), Mitú (MVP), Puerto Carreño (PCR) and Puerto Inírida (PDA). It also operated services from Villavicencio (VVC) to Mitú (MVP), Puerto Inírida (PDA) and Puerto Carreño (PCR). The airplane used to operate an average of nine flights per day.
