American Airlines adds more flights to the Caribbean opening a new route to British Virgin Islands

American Airlines will launch more Caribbean flights from its Miami hub next summer with new service to Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS) in the British Virgin Islands. This new seasonal flight, which will operate daily with Envoy on an Embraer E175 aircraft, will begin June 1, 2023, and continue through the summer.

“We are proud to operate as the leading airline in South Florida, offering our customers an unmatched network in the Caribbean and Latin America, with routes from Miami to more than 70 destinations in the region,” said Juan Carlos Liscano, American Airlines’ vice president for Miami.

“Demand this year has remained strong for Miami travel, and we expect further growth in 2023, with a new and unique destination that our customers in the Caribbean love – the British Virgin Islands,” he added.

“We are happy to welcome American Airlines back to the British Virgin Islands. Having direct flights between Miami and the BVI, one of our must-see destinations, will make visits by people from around the world much easier, faster and more affordable,” said Minister of Communications and Labor, the Honorable Kye Rymer.

“Our residents will also benefit from convenient connections for business and leisure travel to dozens of our destinations along American’s route network,” he said.

American’s Miami hub expands flights to the Caribbean

American is Miami’s home carrier and the largest airline at Miami International Airport (MIA), offering customers more than 140 destinations in the Caribbean.

Since 2021, American has strengthened its presence in the region, with new flights from MIA to Dominica (DOM), Anguilla (AXA) and Samana (AZS). Recently, the airline began operating more service to Cuba, with more flights to Havana (HAV) and resumed flights to Santa Clara (SNU), Varadero (VRA), Holguín (HOG), Camagüey (CMW) and Santiago (SCU).
