On December 1, Emirates resumed Airbus A380 operations on its services to New Zealand, demonstrating increased passenger demand to the Kiwi country. The superjumbo last operated between Dubai (DXB) and Auckland (AKL) in March 2020.
Flight EK448 was operated by an aircraft registered A6-EVG, which took off from Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 11:03 local time and landed at Auckland International Airport (AKL) at 11:38 the following day, after 15 hours and 38 minutes.
The carrier will now offer 7,224 seats weekly to the New Zealand capital, a 45.7% increase in capacity compared to previous weeks. The service to Auckland (AKL) is the carrier’s longest-haul flight and sixth longest worldwide.
Emirates has been flying for 19 years to New Zealand. During the pandemic, the airline continued to operate to the Kiwi country via a stopover in Kuala Lumpur (KUL) and its subsidiary SkyCargo continued to serve the nation, moving essential goods.

- Dubai – Auckland Flight EK 448 DXB 10:20 – AKL 11:20+1 daily flights.
- Auckland – Dubai Flight EK 449 AKL 21:15 – DXB 05:25+1 daily flights.
The A380s operating on this service have a capacity of 516 seats in three classes (14 First Class/76 Business Class/426 Economy) and passengers arriving from New Zealand have the option of connecting to the airline’s extensive network of destinations to Europe and the Middle East.
Emirates‘ superjumbos are currently operating to 37 cities in 25 countries, increasing to 42 destinations by March 2023. In addition, from March 26, the airline is scheduled to resume operations to Christchurch (CHC) with daily Airbus A380 flights via Sydney (SYD).
