    Last Saturday (17) Frontier Airlines inaugurated its flights between Atlanta (ATL) and Liberia/Guanacaste (LIR). This is the second route operated by the low cost airline between the United States and Costa Rica during the winter season 2022/2023.

    Flight F9 221, was operated on an Airbus A320 with registration N228FR, which took off from Hartsfield – Jackson International Airport (ATL) at 11:48 and landed at Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport (LIR) at 14:17, after three hours and 30 minutes.

    «From the Bahamas, El Salvador and Jamaica to Costa Rica, travelers in metro Atlanta now have options to book convenient and affordable travel to some of the most popular vacation destinations in the Caribbean and Central America,» said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president commercial for Frontier Airlines.

    According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, the low-cost carrier will offer 1,488 weekly seats between the United States and Costa Rica. In addition to its operations to Liberia/Guanacaste (LIR), the airline also offers non-stop service to San José (SJO).

    Flight Itinerary

    • Atlanta – Liberia/Guanacaste Flight F9 221 ATL 09:29 – LIR 12:27 Saturday.
    • Liberia/Guanacaste – Atlanta Flight F9 220 LIR 13:32 – ATL 18:36 Saturday.

    The route will be operated in Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 186 passengers in single configuration and promotional fares are available starting at USD 89 each way. With the start of this new service, the company now offers 34 destinations from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL).

    Frontier Liberia

    According to data compiled by Aviacionline through the Costa Rica’s civil aviation authority (DGAC), 208,285 passengers and 1,039.3 tons of cargo were mobilized in 2021 between Atlanta and Costa Rica. Currently, two airlines participate in this market where Frontier is the only low cost operator.

    This year Frontier made an international expansion at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport adding more destinations in Central America and the Caribbean, including Cancun (CUN), Kingston (KIN), Liberia/Guanacaste (LIR), Montego Bay (MBJ), Nassau (NAS), Punta Cana (PUJ), San Salvador (SAL) and San Jose (SJO).
