For summer 2023, WestJet is increasing its operations between Calgary (YYC) and the United Kingdom by 88.8% when compared to the previous season. The airline will offer two daily flights to London and a new destination in Scotland.
All the airline’s Alberta-UK services will be operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft seating 320 passengers in classes (16 Business Class/28 Premium Economy/276 Economy).
More flights to London
The Canadian airline will strengthen its operations in the British capital by offering daily flights from Gatwick (LGW) and Heathrow (LHR). WestJet will offer 8,960 seats per week between London and Calgary in consultation with Cirium data, the airline will be the leading carrier in this market in terms of seats per seat kilometers (ASK).

- Calgary – London/Heathrow Flight WS 18 YYC 20:30 – LHR 11:55+1 daily flights.
- London/Heathrow – Calgary Flight WS 19 LHR 13:55 – YYC 12:55 daily flights.
Flight Itinerary to Gatwick
Service will be seasonal and available from April 30, 2023, to October 28, 2023.
- Calgary – London/Gatwick Flight WS 1 YYC 17:30 – LGW 09:00+1 daily flights.
- London/Gatwick – Calgary Flight WS 2 LGW 11:00 – YYC 12:55 daily flights.
According to data compiled by Aviacionline through the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) 438,905 passengers were mobilized in 2019 between Calgary and London, the British capital is Alberta’s main intercontinental market.
New destination in Scotland
WestJet will connect the province of Alberta to Scotland for the 2023 summer season with a new seasonal route between Calgary (YYC) and Edinburgh (EDI). This new service will replace its operation between Toronto (YYZ) and the Scottish capital.

This service will be available from May 17, 2023 to October 8, 2023.
- Calgary – Edinburgh Flight WS 3 YYC 20:20 – EDI 10:55+1 Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
- Edinburgh – Calgary Flight WS 4 EDI 13:00 – YYC 14:05 Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
With this new service, Scotland will be connected to two destinations in Canada and will be Edinburgh’s eleventh transatlantic connection for the 2023 summer season.
