Venezuela: Plus Ultra plans to fly between Madrid and Porlamar

During the celebration of the International Tourism Fair in Madrid (FITUR 2023) Venezuela’s Minister of Tourism Alí Padrón and Roberto Roselli, CEO of Plus Ultra, agreed to expand air operations with a new service between the Spanish capital and Margarita Island, the company’s third route in Venezuelan territory.

Plus Ultra is already in talks to start in October a new charter service between Madrid (MAD) and Porlamar (PMV) that will connect both cities every 10 days. Currently, the airline offers non-stop flights between Tenerife – Norte (TFN) – Caracas (CCS) and Madrid (MAD) – Caracas (CCS), offering a total of 2,942 weekly seats according to data compiled through Cirium. With this expanded offer, the carrier becomes the top operator between Spain and Venezuela.

This new service will promote tourist destinations in the islands of Margarita, Coche and Cubagua, and it is also expected that this route will have a connection with Canaima. It is expected that these new operations will strengthen commercial partnerships between both nations.

The Venezuelan representation at FITUR 2023 comprised 18 tour operators, promoting the country’s wide range of tourist attractions and facilities.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Aena Estadísticas, 149,418 passengers and 1,591.7 tons of cargo were mobilized in 2022 between Spain and Venezuela in 630 operations. Currently, the airlines offering non-stop flights between both nations are Air Europa, Conviasa, Iberia and Plus Ultra.
