On January 5, United resumed nonstop operations between San Francisco (SFO) and Osaka (KIX): the carrier continues to restore its transpacific network as passenger demand increases. The airline’s last operation on this route was March 8, 2020.
Flight UA35 was operated on a Boeing 777, which took off from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) at 11:34 local time and landed at Kansai International Airport (KIX) at 16:18 the following day, after eleven hours and 44 minutes. United is the second U.S. airline operating long-haul services at Osaka (KIX).
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, the airline will have an offer of 1,656 weekly seats on this route, representing a 54% recovery of capacity compared to pre-pandemic levels. The company currently connects the United States (excluding Guam) with three destinations in Japan, in addition to its operations to Osaka (KIX), it also offers flights to Tokyo – Narita (NRT) and Tokyo – Haneda (HND).

- San Francisco – Osaka/Kansai Flight UA 35 SFO 11:05 – KIX 16:25+1 Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
- Osaka/Kansai – San Francisco Flight UA 34 KIX 18:25 – SFO 11:20 Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
The route will be on Boeing 777-200ER aircraft with a capacity of 276 seats in four classes (50 Polaris/24 Premium Plus/46 Economy Plus/156 Economy). The airline also operates two weekly flights to Kansai Airport (KIX) from Guam (GUM) on Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
San Francisco (SFO) is United’s main transpacific hub where it offers service to Auckland (AKL), Brisbane (BNE), Tokyo – Haneda (HND), Seoul – Incheon (ICN), Osaka – Kansai (KIX), Melbourne (MEL), Tokyo – Narita (NRT), Papeete, Tahiti (PPT), Singapore (SIN), Taipei (TPE), Shanghai (PVG) and by early March will resume operations to Hong Kong (HKG).
With the resumption of operations by the Chicago-based carrier, Kansai Airport (KIX) will have two non-stop services to the West Coast of the United States, complementing Japan Airlines’ connection to Los Angeles (LAX). For this northern summer season, Air Canada will also resume its route from Vancouver (YVR), reinforcing intercontinental connectivity from Osaka (KIX).
