Air Europa, one of the biggest airlines in Spain, has reached two million customers in its loyalty program, Suma. As part of the program’s conversion, this year Suma will allow its users to redeem their miles for Air Europa’s own services.

Until now, travelers could only redeem miles for flights on Air Europa and other SkyTeam alliance airlines. In addition, a wide variety of services could be purchased from program partners, such as hotel stays, car rental, fuel, shopping, and insurance.

As a new feature to be implemented throughout the year, Suma members will also be able to redeem their miles for additional services, in-flight purchases, or lounge access. To this end, the airline is updating its computer platform.

The evolution of the program, which currently records an average of more than 35,000 monthly registrations, was demonstrated on the flight from Rome to Madrid. There, the company surprised the two millionth passenger with a series of personalized details. Of note is the significant growth it is registering in international markets, where the number of registrations has increased by several percentage points, especially in Latin America.

The airline continues to work to add new partners to the loyalty program. The aim: ensuring that the passenger has a complete and satisfactory travel experience. Air Europa Suma currently has more than 40 partners in the market. According to the company, its challenge for 2023 is to work with new and recognized global partners. This way, it’ll seek to serve users in all the regions where it operates.

According to the company, its aim is focused on the idea that Air Europa Suma is not simply a miles program but seeks to turn it into a platform of services and benefits to enhance and personalize each travel experience.
