Air India resumes its non-stop flights between Mumbai and New York

On February 14 Air India resumed its non-stop services between Mumbai (BOM) and New York (JFK), the carrier’s last operation on this route was in 2019. The airline continues to expand its global network as it welcomes more aircraft to its fleet.

Flight AI 119 was operated on a Boeing 777 (ex-Delta) registered VT-AEF and christened «Vihaan,» which took off from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (BOM) at 02:18 local time and landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) 07:27 the following day, after 15 hours and 40 minutes.

This new service is Air India’s third non-stop route to the United States from Mumbai (BOM), complementing its operations to Newark (EWR) and San Francisco (SFO). The airline continues to strengthen international connectivity from its second main hub, with plans to launch new routes to Paris (CDG) and Frankfurt (FRA) from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (BOM) in the first half of this year.

The route will be operated on Boeing 777-200LR and 777-300ER aircraft with a capacity of 288 and 342 passengers, respectively.

Air India will offer a total of 47 flights per week between India and the United States with 26,792 seats per week, making it the leading operator in this market. The airline connects major Indian cities with five U.S. airports.
