British Airways resumes non-stop operations between the United Kingdom and Mainland China for this boreal summer season. The airline’s last operation in this market was on January 16, 2021, with a flight between Shanghai (PVG) and London (LHR).
The UK airline first flew to China since 1980 and continued to operate continuously until the COVID-19 health crisis. The company has been working to reactivate its most important routes to revive business travel, the tourism sector and for travelers to be able to reunite with friends and family.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), 1,837,287 passengers were mobilized in 2019 between the UK and Mainland China, British Airways is the first British carrier to reactivate its non-stop operations in this market, following the outbreak of the pandemic.
«We are looking forward to welcoming our customers on board our flights from Shanghai and Beijing. We know they were looking forward to meeting family and friends, coming to study in the UK and resuming business between China and the UK. We have an incredibly rich history of flying to mainland China, having connected the two countries for more than 40 years. We look forward to resuming these routes again,» said Noella Ferns, British Airways Sales Director, Asia Pacific.
