    Frontier Airlines will have its largest expansion in Puerto Rico with eight new routes to seven U.S. cities and a service to Mexico. The low-cost carrier will also offer a new destination on the Caribbean island to Ponce (PSE), which will complement its operations in San Juan (SJU) and Aguadilla (BQN).

    «The addition of new nonstop routes between Puerto Rico and seven U.S. cities and Cancun, Mexico, significantly expands options for visitors to the Island. At the same time, we celebrate the expansion of operations to Mercedita International Airport in Ponce, which will undoubtedly boost tourism activity and the economy of the southern region,» said Carlos Mercado, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.

    Frontier Puerto Rico

    The company in early May will offer new U.S. service from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) to Cleveland (SJU), Detroit (DTW), Baltimore (BWI), Chicago – Midway (MDW) and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW). In addition, the carrier will expand its international operations in San Juan (SJU) with flights to Cancun (CUN) and will be the only airline to offer non-stop operations between Puerto Rico and Mexico.

    Additionally,Frontier will connect Denver International Airport (DEN) to San Juan (SJU) via a stopover in Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW).

    Frontier currently connects the Puerto Rican capital with Atlanta (ATL), Hartford (BDL), Jacksonville (JAX), Orlando (MCO), Miami (MIA), Philadelphia (PHL), Punta Cana (PUJ), Raleigh/Durham (RDU), Santo Domingo (SDQ) and Tampa (TPA).

    «The increased flight offerings, thanks to our partners at Frontier, serve as another proof point of the travel industry’s belief in Puerto Rico as a destination second to none, now and in the future,» said Brad Dean, executive director of Discover Puerto Rico.

    The airline will also offer nonstop service between Tampa (TPA) and Aguadilla (BQN), the second route the company will offer at Rafael Hernandez International Airport (BQN). Similarly, Frontier will have a new operation between Orlando (MCO) and Puerto Rico, with a new destination of Ponce (PSE).

    «Puerto Rico is a hugely popular destination for leisure travelers, as well as the large population of Puerto Ricans living in the U.S. who enjoy returning to the island to visit friends and family,» said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president commercial for Frontier Airlines.

    • Cleveland (CLE): four weekly flights beginning May 4.
    • Detroit (DTW): four flights weekly beginning May 5.
    • Baltimore (BWI): daily flights starting May 4.
    • Chicago – Midway (MDW): six flights a week beginning May 4.
    • Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW): daily flights beginning May 4.
    • Cancun, Mexico (MEX): three flights a week beginning May 25.
    Aguadilla (BQN)
    • Tampa (TPA): three flights a week starting May 4.
    Ponce (PSE)
    • Orlando (MCO): three flights a week starting May 4.
