Iberia today presented its flight schedule for this year’s northern summer. During the season, the company will consolidate its recovery after the pandemic “with a focus on its long-haul markets: Latin America and the United States“.

According to the Spanish airline in a press release, it plans to offer around 280 weekly services between its base at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas International Airport (MAD) and its destinations in the 16 Latin American countries where it operates regularly. The figure represents an increase of 23.4% over the previous year and is above the values for 2019, the last full year prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Latin America and the Caribbean have always been at the centre of our strategy, but this year we will go further to have more presence in markets such as Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, strengthen our leadership on routes between Latin America and Europe and, at the same time, defend Madrid airport’s position as a bridge between both regions”, commented María Jesús López-Solás, Iberia’s commercial director of Network and Alliances.
