On March 3 Satena resumed non-stop operations between Colombia and Venezuela with the resumption of the Bogota (BOG) – Caracas (CCS) route. Currently, the Venezuelan capital is the only international destination for the state-owned airline. As part of the ANATO 2023 celebration, the company announced its plans to fly to Ecuador.
Flight 9R 8900 boarded 44 passengers (29 Colombian and 15 Venezuelan nationals) and was operated in Embraer ERJ-145, which took off from El Dorado International Airport (BOG) at 06:01 local time and Simón Bolívar International Airport – Maiquetía (CCS) at 08:34, after one hour and 54 minutes.
«We continue to strengthen ties of brotherhood with the Republic of Colombia, today the first Bogotá-Caracas flight of Satena airline landed in Maiquetía, giving way to the diplomacy of peace between both nations,» said Ramón Celestino Velásquez Araguayán, Minister of People’s Power for Transport of Venezuela.
With the start of Satena’s operations, there will be five weekly flights between Venezuela and Colombia through two airline operators and an offer of 1,064 weekly seats between both nations.

- Bogota – Caracas Flight 9R 8900 BOG 05:40 – CCS 08:45 Tuesday and Friday.
- Caracas – Bogota Flight 9R 8901 CCS 09:45 – BOG 10:46 Tuesday and Friday.
The Embraer ERJ-145 aircraft that operates this service has capacity for 50 seats in single economy class configuration and promotional fares are from USD 293 one way.

Currently, Turpial Airlines and Satena are the only air carriers authorized to operate scheduled passenger flights between Colombia and Venezuela. The state-owned airline plans to open a route between Barranquilla (BAQ) and Caracas (CCS) and the Venezuelan airline intends to start a non-stop service between Valencia (VLN) and Bogota (BOG).
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Colombian Civil Aeronautics statistics, 157,169 passengers were mobilized in 2019 with an occupancy factor of 67.43% between Bogota (BOG) and Caracas (CCS). It was the seventh most important South American route from El Dorado International Airport (BOG).
