HAI EXPO 2023: Leonardo presents its next helicopter

In the framework of a new edition of Heli-Expo, to be held in Atlanta, Georgia, from March 7, Leonardo unveiled the projects and models it will present at the fair. Leonardo will present at HAI Heli-Expo 2023 a set of new developments and digital solutions, along with a special focus on the EMS area, which is experiencing strong growth worldwide, with interest focused on the North American market.

What will Leonardo present at HAI Heli-Expo 2023?

A mock-up of the AW09 will be presented to the public for the first time. It is the new generation single-engine helicopter. It will be presented in final configuration with Safran Helicopter Engines.

Leonardo will exhibit the mock-up of an Arriel 2K engine together with the AW09.

It will also be present with an AW169 configured for emergency medical services and an AW139 with a VIP configuration. These two models will be exhibited in a special area dedicated to the Augusta VIP helicopter brand.

Another Leonardo exhibit will be a Virtual and Extended Reality (VxR) Simulator and the Modular Interactive Trainer for Helicopter Operators. These modules will be exhibited at the Leonardo booth, where you will be able to have the experience of trying them out.

Finally, there will be a special corner dedicated to Customer Experience. This corner focuses on improving the customer journey through Leonardo’s digital services.

Leonardo’s new helicopter

The Italian manufacturer will exhibit for the first time a mock-up of the AW09 in its final configuration. Three years after acquiring Kopter, Leonardo will show the world the most modern single-engine helicopter for the commercial market.

The AW09 has greater modularity, modern electronic systems, the largest cabin and hold in its category and a high degree of digitalization.

This aircraft has unique characteristics, high cruising speeds, ability to fly in very hot climates and at high altitudes. It also emits a low noise level as a result of the newly developed dynamic assembly and covered tail rotor.
