Aerus, Mexico’s new regional airline, announced the launch of its tickets, fares, itinerary and service offerings. It plans to operate five routes using Monterrey International Airport (MTY) as its base.
Starting April 27, Aerus will fly from Monterrey to Ciudad Victoria, Matamoros, Piedras Negras and Tampico, in addition to a route connecting Matamoros and Tampico.
In Monterrey, operations will be from Terminal B. Also, passengers will be able to purchase VIP access to the OMA Premium Lounge during the check-in or web check-in process.
It should be noted that on four of the five routes there will be no direct competition, since Aerus’ objective is to serve cities that do not have air service to the main cities in northeastern Mexico.
Within the proposal, the airline proposes an agile service that will operate initially with a fleet of 9-passenger Cessna Grand Caravan turboprops. According to the company, the aircraft will allow passengers to arrive just 40 minutes before the flight or just 20 minutes if they have already purchased their boarding pass through the web.
