Cebu Pacific, Philippines’ largest airline in terms of fleet and destinations served, unveiled earlier this week the expansion of its hub at Clark International Airport (CRK), located about 80 kilometres from Manila, the country’s capital city.
The low-cost carrier will base three Airbus A320neo aircraft at the air terminal and operate from there to thirteen domestic and international destinations. The company is due to take delivery of ten aircraft of the type during 2023 as part of its fleet modernisation and growth process.
In addition, the company will hire new pilots, cabin crew and ground staff to support the growth of its hub at Clark International Airport. According to the company, which cites data provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the planned hiring of 140 new employees will generate «more than four thousand jobs for locals».
«We are excited to reestablish our presence in such an important gateway that will boost accessibility and connectivity for the traveling public», said Xander Lao, President and CCO of Cebu Pacific.
To mark the opening of the new routes, the airline launched a special offer for all flights to and from Clark with a one-way base fare of one Philippine peso, excluding surcharges and fees. The promotion was available for purchases between February 27 and March 1, for travel between April 21 and October 29 this year.
