As we had anticipated on Tuesday, Aerolíneas Argentinas officially announced today the launch of its flights to Reconquista, a city in northern Santa Fe that will become the 38th domestic destination served from Buenos Aires, an unprecedented number in several decades.
The news was disclosed at an event attended by Eduardo «Wado» de Pedro, Minister of the Interior; Diego Giuliano, Minister of Transportation; Celia Arena, Minister of Government of Santa Fe; Amadeo Vallejos, Mayor of Reconquista; and Pablo Ceriani, President of Aerolíneas Argentinas.
A notable point is that the flights will have a stopover in Rosario, which will allow the largest city in the province (and one of the largest agro-ports in the world) to connect with the important production hub in the north of Santa Fe, centered around Reconquista and Avellaneda.
Reconquista is the third city in the interior that Aerolíneas Argentinas has added in the last year, after Puerto Madryn and Merlo.
Prices and schedules of flights to Reconquista
Aerolíneas Argentinas will operate two weekly flights to Reconquista, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from the Jorge Newbery Aeroparque in Buenos Aires. They will be carried out on Embraer 190 aircraft with a capacity for 96 passengers.
Flight AR1716 will depart from Buenos Aires at 11:45 and arrive in Rosario at 12:45, from where it will take off at 13:15 to arrive in Reconquista at 14:25.
From Reconquista, it will depart as flight AR1717 at 15:05, arriving in Rosario at 16:15, and taking off from there at 16:45 to arrive in Buenos Aires at 17:35.
Tickets to fly between Reconquista and Rosario can be purchased today starting at 10,446 Argentine pesos one-way in the base fare (~USD 25 at unofficial rate exchange), which includes one 15 kg checked bag and one 8 kg carry-on bag.
Flights between Reconquista and Buenos Aires start at 17,639 pesos one-way (~USD 41 at unofficial rate exchange), also in the base fare with the same conditions.
These fares are quite competitive considering that buses, which involve a 12-hour journey by land, cost between 11,000 and 14,000 pesos.
History of Reconquista Airport
Apart from LADE, which operated during the last month with a frequency every 15 days, Flyest had been the last airline to operate in Reconquista in 2019 (from Aeroparque via Santa Fe), succeeding Avianca Argentina, which operated between June 2018 and March 2019 (also from Aeroparque, but via Rosario).

Before Avianca Argentina, between 2013 and 2017, Reconquista had flights from Macair with Jetstream 32 aircraft that connected it with Buenos Aires and Sunchales, driven by the Foreign Trade Chamber of Northern Santa Fe.
However, the arrival of Aerolíneas Argentinas represents a historic leap in Reconquista’s connectivity because it will now be integrated into Skyteam’s global network.
