Airbus Helicopters has inked a deal with China’s GDAT, one of the country’s leading helicopter lessors and operators, for 50 H160 helicopters. The agreement, signed during French President Macron’s visit to China, marks the largest single order for the H160 in the civil and parapublic market since its launch in 2015.
The H160 helicopters will be employed in the energy sector, including offshore transportation for oil and gas platforms, wind farms, and harbor piloting. In addition, the aircraft will be used for emergency medical services and other municipal public service missions. The companies also signed a strategic cooperation agreement focusing on support and services capabilities to ensure the H160’s long-term success in China.
Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, expressed his gratitude to GDAT for choosing to expand their all-Airbus fleet of 26 helicopters with the addition of 50 H160 helicopters. He noted that the H160 was designed as a multi-mission helicopter, making it an ideal fit for the diverse segments that lessors cater to.
Peter Jiang, Chairman of GDAT, praised the contract as a testament to the strong economic and trade cooperation between France and China. He highlighted the H160’s potential in China, especially within the energy sector, and its role in continuing GDAT’s success story that began with 21 H225 helicopters.
The H160, a multi-role helicopter capable of executing a wide range of missions, incorporates Airbus’ latest technological innovations. With sound-reducing Blue Edge blades and excellent external visibility, the helicopter provides superior comfort for passengers and pilots.
