Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) once again holds the title of the second busiest commercial airport in the world, handling 73.4 million passengers in 2022 according to reports from Airports Council International (ACI). This represents a 17% increase when compared to 2021 levels.
Last year, new European airlines landed at DFW for the first time: Finnair with a four-times weekly service from Helsinki (HEL) on Airbus A350-900 and Iberia with a four-times weekly service from Madrid (MAD) on Airbus A330-200. Initially the airline had scheduled the route to DFW on a seasonal basis, but due to its success the company kept it operational throughout the year.
Qatar Airways provided a schedule with additional flights at DFW to meet the demand of travelers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Japan Airlines operated some flights during the summer season on Boeing 777-300ERs, offering increased seat capacity on its services to Tokyo – Haneda (HND).
British Airways consolidated its operations at the main Texas airport by operating with the Airbus A380: the only service performed by the superjumbo at DFW. In December 2022, Qantas began the longest flight from DFW with nonstop service to Melbourne (MEL) operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which it complements with its daily flights from Sydney (SYD).
American Airlines, the main Dallas-based carrier (DFW), restored its European offerings by 76.1% compared to pre-pandemic levels and flew to 24 Mexican destinations, making it the airline serving the most cities in Mexico.

Last year, Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) invested in Terminal C facilities to improve the customer experience. These investments are the reason for the airport’s arrival of new airlines and a total of 265 destinations worldwide.
According to data obtained through DFW statistics, 901,502.1 tons of cargo and 9,796,795 international passengers were moved in 2022, this represents an increase of 7.6% compared to 2019 levels.
