Air Serbia inaugurates flights between Belgrade, Florence and Marseille

Serbia’s national carrier will operate two weekly flights in both directions on Tuesdays and Saturdays between the country’s capital and the cities of Florence in Italy and Marseille in France. The connections will be available all year round.

«Flights to France and Italy are traditionally in high demand», commented Boško Rupić, General Manager Commercial and Strategy. «We are introducing scheduled flights to Marseille and Florence, allowing passengers to get to know these cities and their rich cultural and other content throughout the year», he emphasised.

New connection to Southern Italy

On Tuesday 19 May, Air Serbia inaugurated its flights between Belgrade and Naples, in the southern Italian region of Campania. The airline will have a frequency of two weekly services in both directions on Mondays and Fridays.

Bojan Aranđelović, Head of Network Planning and Scheduling, remarked on the importance of Italy as a tourist destination and highlighted the airline’s growing presence in the country. It also operates regularly at Rome-Fiumicino International Airport (FCO).

New routes to Germany and Sweden

On Monday 15 May, the airline began operations between Belgrade and Hamburg. It will offer a frequency of three flights a week in both directions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

«We believe that our new, scheduled flights between Belgrade and Hamburg will be just as interesting to those who travel to the northern German city on business, as well as those who want to visit it as tourists», commented Boško Rupić.

Three days later, Air Serbia inaugurated its flights from Belgrade to Cologne (already operating from Niš-Constantino the Great Airport) and Gothenburg. The company will operate three weekly services to the Swedish city, on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays. It will also fly three times a week to the German city on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

«Gothenburg is a very important point between Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen», said Rupić. «The direct flights to this city allow our passengers to reach northern Europe faster and more easily», he added.

Air Serbia lands in Egypt

Also in the middle of the month, the company inaugurated services to Cairo, capital city of Egypt. It will operate three flights a week to and from Belgrade, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

«In addition to Air Serbia charter flights to the country’s favourite resorts, such as Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, as of last night, we offer passengers scheduled flights between Belgrade and Cairo», noted Boško Rupić.

Return to Chicago

After an absence of three decades, Air Serbia also resumed operations between Belgrade and Chicago in the United States in May. While the initial schedule includes two flights per week in both directions, from 12 June the frequency will be increased to three weekly services.

«This day is of especial importance for our company, Serbia, Belgrade, and the entire Western Balkan region, as well as the large number of our compatriots who live and work in North America», said Jiri Marek, the company’s CEO.
