General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada and Bombardier Defense are collaborating on the Multi-Mission Aircraft Team project. Their goal is to create a cutting-edge airborne capability by merging the Bombardier Global 6500 with General Dynamics’ fully interoperable mission system technology and sensors.
This collaborative effort stands to catapult Canada into the vanguard of next-generation multi-mission and anti-submarine warfare (ASW). As an operator and allied exporter, Canada is set to benefit greatly from this venture.
Both companies are urging the Government of Canada to initiate a competitive, equitable, and transparent procurement process. This move will not only allow Canadian innovation to flourish but also bolster high-caliber talent and stimulate the Pan-Canadian aerospace ecosystem.
Towards the Future of Multi-Mission and Anti-Submarine Warfare
Bombardier Defense and General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada are working diligently to deliver the next-generation Multi-Mission and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) aircraft. This is in response to the requirements established by the Government of Canada for the Canadian Multi-Mission Aircraft (CMMA) program.
The Canadian Multi-Mission Aircraft Team is built on the efficient and agile Global 6500 aircraft. The jet has next-generation engines, long-range capability, high endurance, and proven reliability coupled with better fuel efficiency. Moreover, it has worldwide support infrastructure, which makes it the platform of choice for over 10 different mission types across the globe.
Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Executive Vice-President, Aircraft Sales and Bombardier Defense, emphasizes the importance of Canadians having a state-of-the-art platform for their CMMA program. He sees this project as a generational opportunity for Bombardier to leverage its Made-In-Canada Global 6500 aircraft, famous for their exceptional performance and customized mission enhancers for each client.
Joel Houde, Vice President and General Manager, General Dynamics Mission Systems–International, states that the partnership with Bombardier unlocks a generational opportunity. It will provide a made-in-Canada solution supporting Canada’s multi-mission airborne needs into the future and create an exportable capability that will benefit Canada in many ways.
