As devices become commercially available, the range of equipment options will expand.

Operators with existing Avance L5 equipment will have the necessary support to upgrade to Gogo 5G. To this end, the company is offering up to $100,000 in reimbursements through the First to Fly promotion. Until the 5G LRU X3 becomes available, aircraft can utilize Gogo’s 4G network.

Ultimately, Gogo 5G is designed to offer high performance with very low latency, operating between 3.7 and 3.97GHz, to accommodate the demand for data-intensive services and apps, such as video conferencing and social networking. The 5G chip underwent a critical review earlier this year, and the company expects to launch it in the market by mid-August.
