Scoot to add nine Embraer E190-E2s from Azorra

Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines has confirmed that it will incorporate nine Embraer E190-E2 aircraft through a leasing agreement with Azorra. The aircraft will be delivered in 2024 and will come from the leasing company’s order portfolio with the Brazilian manufacturer.

“The agreement to include nine new E190-E2 aircraft in our fleet allows us to continue operating a modern and fuel-efficient fleet, and support our network growth strategy by serving thinner routes to non-metro destinations out of Singapore. As the first Singaporean carrier to operate the E2s, we are excited to be working with our partners at Embraer to improve our network connectivity and increase travel options for our customers,” said Leslie Thing, CEO of Scoot.

For his part, Arjan Meijer, CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, highlighted the role of Scoot as the first major operator of the E2 in Southeast Asia and how it will complement the rest of its larger narrow-body aircraft fleet to expand and maintain its networks.

John Evans, CEO of Azorra, also stated that the incorporation of the E2s is “demonstrating the emerging capacity rationalization trend amongst operators globally.”

Scoot began operations in June 2012 and merged with Tigerair Singapore in July 2017. Since then, they have transported more than 71 million passengers. Their current fleet consists of 22 Airbus A320s, 6 A320neos, 9 A321neos, 10 Boeing 787-8s and 10 Boeing 787-9s serving a network of 71 destinations in 15 countries across the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Europe.
