Laser Airlines recently started offering non-stop flights between Caracas (CCS) and Bogotá (BOG) from June this year. The company’s services in Colombia’s capital were last operational in March 2020 and had been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
Laser, a Venezuelan airline, is among the companies authorized by Aeronáutica Civil to fly between Venezuela and Colombia. The revival of this route is anticipated to boost tourism and commerce between both neighboring nations. In this segment, Laser will compete with Turpial Airlines and Satena.
As per data from Aviacionline, derived through Aerocivil statistics, 152,401 passengers were transported in 2019 with a 67% occupancy rate and 1,914.1 tons of cargo between Bogotá and Caracas.
«The Caracas-Bogotá route attracts a high demand from clients of both nations, making it highly appealing for business, leisure, or family visit travellers. Given these factors, we predict a high occupancy rate for the initial thrice-weekly flights, which we plan to increase to daily flights soon,» stated René Cortés, Executive Vice President of Laser Airlines.
«While our primary focus is the link between the two capitals, our mid-term plans include the inclusion of the Maracaibo-Bogotá-Maracaibo route, which also represents a traditional and high-demand route,» added Cortés.
