«In these nearly 11 years of history, our passengers were always the reason for everything we built, with a talented and committed work team that today is forced to say goodbye», the letter begins.
«We did not leave a single action undone and we did the impossible to survive to this point to save a company in crisis», in addition to detailing the various measures they took following the low cost model and criticizing the «lack of business understanding» by the authorities, which represents a critique of the Colombian government.
«With great sadness, we inform that given the current situation of Viva and the impossibility of achieving integration with Avianca, as we have jointly stated for more than nine months, the company is no longer viable», they continued.
They conclude by thanking the suppliers who adhered to the airline’s Business Reorganization Plan, allies, local governments, and public opinion, ending with «we have the satisfaction of having changed the history of aviation in Colombia.»
«With deep pain, we must give this news today… Even though Viva stops painting the skies of Colombia yellow and says goodbye to the country, the model we first brought to the region is more alive than ever», they concluded.
