HAL FAdeA Paris Air Show 2023 MoU

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Fábrica Argentina de Aviones (FAdeA), signed a Memorandum of Understanding during the Paris Air Show 2023 to explore possibilities of collaboration in the MRO field and to satisfy any compensation requirements in case of probable sale of platforms manufactured by HAL in the LATAM region.

The information was communicated by HAL on its social networks, where it can be seen how they present FAdeA officers with a model of the light Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) MK-1, which was already tested by an Argentine military delegation in October 2022 when they were looking for a replacement to replace the old SA-315 LAMA for high mountain operations (the Bell 407GXi was finally selected).

However, in February this year the Argentine Air Force and HAL signed an agreement for the supply of spare parts and engine repair of the SA-315 LAMA helicopters.

Likewise, India continues to promote its products in LATAM countries and there seems to be a concrete interest in establishing in Argentina a beachhead from which to project itself in the region as a reliable alternative supplier of defense systems.

In particular, HAL is offering Argentina its light combat aircraft LCA Tejas Mk-1A (in which another country in the region may have shown concrete interest) and its line of helicopters, among which the LHU Mk-1 and the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH-DHRUV), both designed and manufactured in India, stand out.
