Play Airlines landed for the first time in Canada on June 22, 2023 with non-stop service between Reykjavik and Toronto – Hamilton. With this new route, the low cost carrier now operates five destinations in North America.
Present at the inaugural flight ceremony were Hamilton Councillors Tammy Hwang and Mark Tadeson; Birgir Jónsson, CEO of PLAY Airline; Cole Horncastle, Executive General Manager of John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport; Cathie Puckering, Vice President and Director of Canadian Network Vantage Airport Group; and Ed Minich, Board Director of Hamilton International Airport.
Flight OG 201 was operated on Airbus A320neo registered “TF-PPE”, which departed Hamilton-Munro International Airport (YHM) at 15:48 local time and arrived at Reykjavik International Airport (KEF) at 17:15, after five hours and 27 minutes.

Flights are operated on Airbus A320neo aircraft with 174-seat capacity in single configuration and promotional fares are available from €129 round trip. The Icelandic airline is the only low-cost carrier with transatlantic flights to Hamilton – Munro Airport.
This new service offers convenient connections to Amsterdam (AMS), Berlin (BER), Copenhagen (CPH), Stockholm (ARN), London (STN) and to Dublin (DUB) via the airline’s hub in Iceland. PLAY’s North American network also provides non-stop flights to Boston (BOS), Baltimore (BWI), Washington – Dulles (IAD) and New York – Stewart (SWF).
