Qantas resumes flights between Perth and Rome

Qantas has resumed seasonal flights between Perth and Rome – Fiumicino on June 17, marking the return of the popular route for the second consecutive year. The airline will provide more than 22,000 seats on this segment between Australia and Italy over a four-month period.

Flight QF 5 was operated by a Boeing 787 registered as VH-ZNC and named “Quokka”. The aircraft departed Perth Airport (PER) at 02:27 local time and landed at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) at 11:59 after 15 hours and 32 minutes.

This service is the only non-stop connection between Australia and mainland Europe offered by any airline. Qantas has also confirmed that it will operate this route for a third year and that flights for 2024 will be available for sale in early July 2024.

Our Perth-Rome route was one of the most popular on our international network last year and bookings indicate it will be again. We also saw many customers using Rome as a gateway to mainland Europe, then connecting to our partner network, with Sicily, Athens and Barcelona among the top destinations last year“, said Cameron Wallace, CEO of Qantas International.
